Ian Hunt, Chairman ofthe Board of Governors

“We are responsible for the children for acertain period of time. Our task is to prepare them as best as possible for thenext stage of the educational process. The next stage is a university, as arule, and the ability to study independently is a key aspect of a successful university education”.

Pupils learn to understand the value of community and contribution to communitydevelopment. They develop their leadership skills and learn to work in a team. The school adheres to progressive views and does not forget about the richheritage. Pupils are taught moral compass that help them succeed in life.

Ian Hunt explains:

“What we're looking for are people whohave a curiosity and learning; people who want to ask questions rather thanjust be fed the answers. And so there is a confidence to ask those questions and the confidence to learn more about what their potential answers could be. Because of course, there's never one answer to anything. It's about finding your own pathway in achieving those answers. And developing a holistic understanding is about developing a skill set that goes well beyond the classroom. It's about your capacity to operate in a team, your capacity to be aleader, your capacity to be a public speaker, and all of these will give youthe tools and the skills that will allow you to succeed in a much wide context in a global environment.”

Over these years, more than 40children have had the opportunity to study at the best universities in theworld.

“We spend a lot of time advising thestudents, equipping the students and allowing the students to be ready for thenext phase of their journey, which is the university. So, giving them adviceand on how to get to the best universities, giving them advice on how to passtheir exams and what the skills are that are required in both A level and IB.Now, A-Level and IB are both world recognised quantifications by the topuniversities in the world,”Hunt says.

Today leavers of HaileyburyAlmaty study at leading universities of the world: University of Pennsylvania, University of California,Berkeley, University of Cambridge, University College London, Durham University, University of Bath, Queen Mary’s University of London, Royal Holloway University of London, London School of Economics, Manchester, Imperial College London, Central St Martins.

Both Haileybury Almaty and Haileybury Astana schools are now entering a new phase of development.

“We're in a position to really take these schools into an environment where the academic aspiration is very much "the sky is the limit" for it. It is important for our school tocreate and maintain a learning environment that meets the requirements of 21 stcentury learning,”the Chairman of the Board of Governors says.
