In shaping the global dynamics, Asia takes the spotlight and accounts for over 60% of global imports. The biggest demand growth centers in Asia are China, India, Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Vietnam. Traditional big buyers like Japan and Korea continue to exert significant influence over the global market.
Starting March, we can see a steady recovery and demand in key Asian majors. If the pandemic situation improves enough by the end of April, natural gas consumption in China is expected to increase 6% to 8% this year. Accumulated gas demand impact in Japan and South Korea are also expected to increase, as detailed in the RBAC Report by James Brooks, published on 8 April 2020.
