At Globalink, they are no strangers to handling complex logistics. But someprojects go beyond operations—they carry a profound sense of purpose. One such project was the journey of Trishka, a 22-year-old brown bear rescued from captivity in Karaganda, Kazakhstan.
Trishka had spent her entire life in a small cage behind a private home after losing her mother to poachers as a cub. Her story, though heartbreaking, took a hopeful turn when the Dutch NGO Bears in Mind stepped in to rescue her and offer achance at a new life in Europe.
Globalink was honoured to be part of this mission. From the moment they were contacted, their teams mobilized to manage the logistical challenges involved in moving aliving, breathing symbol of resilience. They arranged for Trishka’s safejourney from Karaganda to Astana by road, coordinated closely with veterinary and customs authorities, and ensured all regulatory and transport requirements were met—including the handling and clearance of the specialized metal crateprovided by ZooLogistics in the Netherlands.
Every stepof this operation required care, precision, and sensitivity. From temperature-controlled transport to ensuring the bear’s comfort during transit, their teams remained deeply committed to treating Trishka not as cargo, but asa life entrusted to them.
Trishka has now arrived safely in Europe, where she is undergoing quarantine at a sanctuaryin Belgium. Soon, she will take her first steps into an open enclosure—something she has never known in her two decades of confinement. Apermanent home is already being prepared for her, where she will finally experience the freedom and dignity all wild animals deserve.
This may not have been their largest assignment—but it is one they will never forget. They are proud and humbled to have contributed to this extraordinary effort, alongside Bears in Mind, Lufthansa Cargo, ZooLogistics, and many others who made this rescue possible.
