KIOGE 2024: Prospects for the oil and gas industry on the back of rapid development

KIOGE 2024: How is Kazakhstan’s oil and gas sector developing in 2024?

In 2023, according to the National Statistics Bureau, the share of gross added value of oil and gas in the country’s GDP was 16.2%, and in absolute terms, the industry produced 20.14 trillion KZT, which is 8.3% more than the year before. In 2024, oil and gas continues to develop, progressively engaged in theprocessing of raw materials through the creation of new and expansion ofexisting investment projects.

How exactly this happens and what prospects the industry has will be discussed by representatives of government agencies, businesses and experts at the Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition - KIOGE 2024. Traditionally, the KIOGE platform will be represented by the exhibition and the conference.

The KIOGE conference will be held from September 25 to 26 in Almaty at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. The main topics of discussion will be issues of international cooperation in the oil and gas sector, presentation of key projects in the oil and gas sector, including their current status, plans for procurement and further development. It is important that the program of the first day - September 25 - will focus on discussing investments and implementation of energy projects at the international level, and the content of September 26 includes discussions on the development of information technology and innovation in the industry. For example, the central topic of the plenary session will be the implementation of oil and gas projects with in the framework of the concept of sustainable development, the strategy of Kazakhstan in the context of energy transformation, reducing the risks of investment projects and developing local content.

The conference will feature Askhat Khasenov, the Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas, Sanzhar Zharkeshov, the Chairman of the Board of QazaqGaz, Suhail Al Mazrouei, the UAE Minister of Energy, Behrooz Baikalizadeh, the Head of the OPEC Oil Research Department, and many other well-known speakers in the industry.

The event will also include a separate competition for startups in the field of industrial digitalization with the potential to begin cooperation with leading companies, organized jointly with the Park of Innovative Technologies Autonomous Cluster Fund. Competitions will be held in the areas of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, the Internet of things, big data, 3D printing and other priorities in digital transformation.

The exposition part of the KIOGE exhibition will be presented from September 25 to 27 at the Atakent Exhibition Center. The number of participants has increased again this year: if in 2022 there were 196, then in 2024 there will be 380 from 19 countries, which shows the attention to the event from the industry community not only in Kazakhstan, but also abroad. The KIOGE 2024 expo-event promises to become an indispensable platform for the exchange of advanced experience, strategies and unique technologies aimed at sustainable progress of the oil and gas industry in the local and foreign markets. The exhibition will also have a seminar area, where participating companies will hold a number of training seminars for oil and gas specialists, there by improving the professional competencies of employees.

Current topics for dialogue between the state and business, together with a large exhibition complex, make KIOGE 2024 one of the most important oil and gas events in the Central Asian region.
