AmCham Digitalization Committee Quarterly Meeting: New Chair | 30 January 2026 

Productive discussion at the Digitalization Committee meeting last week, and sincere congratulations to Oleg Abdurashitov from Outpost Eurasia on being elected Committee Chairman through a consensus of members. We look forward to continued progress of the Committee under his leadership in the new year.  

Participants exchanged views and updates on several priority regulatory issues affecting the digital and technology ecosystem in Kazakhstan, including: 

• the draft law on online platforms and mass media, with a focus on legal clarity, proportional regulation, and localization requirements; 

• implementation of the Digital Code and participation in upcoming working groups; 

• emerging issues around data localization, cross-border data transfers, and cloud services; 

• cybersecurity and AI regulation, including implementation challenges; 

• next steps on engagement with government and preparation for potential discussions at the Prime Minister’s Council. 

Through the collaborative efforts of its members, the Committee enters 2026 with a clear commitment to advancing a balanced and predictable digital environment.
