We thank Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova and other high-level Kazakhstani officials for the substantive dialogue at the Prime Minister’s Council on Improving the Investment Climate this past Friday.
U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Deborah Robinson, EU Ambassador Aleska Simkic, Canadian Ambassador Christopher Duggan, Adilet Nazarbayev of Johnson & Johnson, Dmitry Kozenkov of Pfizer, Mariya Shipuleva of AstraZeneca, Kevin Freake of Kazanada ITC, Dmitry Zanchev of GE HealthCare and AmCham director Jeff Erlich represented investors. We discussed meeting the President’s goal of spending 5 percent of GDP on healthcare, shortening time to market for new drugs, updating medical training standards, and localizing production of medical equipment.
Kazakhstan has shown incredible, lifesaving progress in all health indicators since independence. We believe this is due in no small part to our member companies’ innovative technologies, therapies and practices, and also in our ongoing dialogue to remove barriers and open opportunities for investment.
AmCham expects to raise issues affecting fast-moving consumer goods and trade, transport and logistics at council sessions later this year, and will follow up on the topics raised last week. If your company would like to be a part of this, reach out!
