AmCham Kazakhstan and U.S. Consul General Visit PepsiCo’s New Plant Construction Site in Almaty Region

Representatives of AmCham Kazakhstan, together with U.S. Consul General Michelle Yerkin, along with teams from the U.S. Consulate General and the U.S. Commercial Service, visited PepsiCo’s new snacks production plant under construction in the Almaty region on September 24. The facility is the company’s largest investment projects in Central Asia, with a total commitment of USD 368 million. The first phase is already underway and start up is expected in the first half of 2026. The second phase, scheduled to start up in 2028, will double PepsiCo’s initial investments and will triple production capacity.

When fully operational, the plant will process up to 210,000 tons of locally grown potatoes annually and produce around 70,000 tons of finished products. The project is expected to create up to 900 permanent jobs and has already engaged 15 Kazakhstani farms in its supply chain, advancing priorities in agro-processing, contract farming, and high value-added exports.

AmCham Kazakhstan appreciates PepsiCo’s long-term commitment to Kazakhstan and view this investment as a strong example of international business strengthening the national economy. We will continue to support foreign investors bringing capital, technology, and jobs to Kazakhstan.
