AmCham Kazakhstan Discussed Data Localization Challenges at the March 10 Working Group Meeting

AmCham Kazakhstan’s Digitalization Committee held a Data Localization Working Group meeting online to discuss current regulatory and practical issues affecting companies operating in Kazakhstan.

Participants exchanged views on personal data regulation, cloud solutions, cybersecurity requirements, infrastructure, and emerging AI-related concerns. The discussion highlighted the need for greater clarity and predictability in the regulatory framework, as well as the importance of considering data localization broadly, including its impact on technology infrastructure, business operations, and cross-border data flows.

Members also agreed on next steps, including collecting practical business examples and consolidating key issues for further dialogue with relevant government stakeholders.
