Important dates:
- Fall internships are through the end of December, with an application deadline of October 5
- Spring internships are January to May, with an application deadline of November 17th.
- The deadline for summer internships is March 30th, with the internship period varying.
All internships can be extended to the following period, based on mutual agreement.
AmCham Kazakhstan
The American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan serves as the voice of the international and local business community by creating an open forum to exchange information, ideas, and experience doing business in Kazakhstan.
We are organized into four departments – communications, events, membership, government relations and finance – with opportunities in each.
Our interns
- Interns must be 3rd or 4th year bachelor’s, master’s students or have graduated within 6 months, with courses relevant to the assignment (business, communications, political science, international relations, finance or accounting.)
- AmCham only accepts interns from member or partner organizations (currently KIMEP and Narxoz), or American universities.
- Past interns have come from KIMEP, University of Glasgow and the Fletcher School for Law and Diplomacy, and have worked on a range of interesting projects.
- English and Russian and/or Kazakh are required.
The job:
- Internships are a minimum of 10 weeks; longer periods are desirable
- They are unpaid, but AmCham will work with interns to help get course credit, or if available, external financial support.
- Interns work at least 12 hours a week during the academic year, summer internships are full-time, in-person. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.
- Each internship includes a main project, to be agreed on with your supervisor. Past projects included a handbook on U.S. assistance programs available to members and preparing briefs on policy issues
- Interns will also help with events, maintaining the client-relationship management system and other administrative tasks
- Current needs include:
- Communications
- Support with AmCham’s annual publication
- Proofreading and translation
- Events
- Coordinating with vendors
- Staffing the events (includes evening hours)
- Government relations
- Coordinating working groups
- Preparing briefs for managers prior to meetings
- Finance (only for Spring)
- Apprenticing with our chief accountant
