On February 16, AmCham Kazakhstan convened a working lunch dedicated to intellectual property protection, in cooperation with the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Joselyn Steiner and Sydney Dynenberg outlined CLDP’s ongoing and upcoming efforts aimed at improving the legal and enforcement framework for IP rights in Kazakhstan, covering areas such as trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets.
Importantly, the discussion was driven by business input. AmCham member companies from the FMCG and pharmaceutical sectors shared first-hand perspectives on enforcement gaps, counterfeiting risks, and regulatory bottlenecks that affect day-to-day operations and long-term investment decisions.
The exchange provided a practical, industry-based view of current challenges and helped identify areas for continued dialogue and cooperation.
We value this open engagement and look forward to further collaboration to support a more predictable and effective IP environment in Kazakhstan.
