Key Regulatory Issues Discussed at AmCham Healthcare Committee Meeting

The AmCham Healthcare Committee held its quarterly meeting in Almaty on January 26, with members joining both in person and online.

During the meeting, participants discussed key regulatory challenges affecting the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector in 2026, including:

  • VAT implementation for medicines, including recent government decrees and their practical impact on supply chains and patient access
  • Pricing and composite services
  • Contract manufacturing
  • Funding and access to medicines, particularly risks arising from regulatory uncertainty and inconsistent application of rules
  • Import of consumables and equipment used for the synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals (RPs)

Members confirmed their readiness to engage constructively with government counterparts and to contribute to evidence-based solutions that support a sustainable healthcare system.

Thank you to all members for an active discussion, and to Johnson & Johnson for hosting.
