AmCham Kazakhstan Digitalization Committee Reviews Digital Code, Data Localization, and Cybersecurity Priorities

On April 16, ๐๐บ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐บ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ต๐๐๐ฎ๐ปโ๐ ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฒ held its quarterly meeting, bringing together members in-person and online to discuss key regulatory developments shaping Kazakhstanโs digital business environment.
The discussion focused on several priority topics, including the implementation of the Digital Code, the draft law on online platforms and mass media, data localization requirements, and cybersecurity compliance issues.
Members exchanged views on proposed regulations related to online platforms, including local presence requirements, age verification procedures, and evolving obligations for digital service providers. The Committee also reviewed expected legislative timelines and opportunities for continued business engagement.
A major focus of the meeting was ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ ๐น๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, identified as a priority issue due to its impact on cloud services, investment decisions, and participation in public and quasi-state sector projects. Members agreed to advance work on a new issue brief with practical recommendations.
The Committee also discussed ๐ฐ๐๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐, including the importance of clear compliance mechanisms, certification procedures, and enabling adoption of new technologies across sectors.
