AmCham Kazakhstan Participated in the Investment Protection Forum in Astana

AmCham Kazakhstan participated in the first Investment Protection Forum, held on 9 April 2026 in Astana under the chairmanship of Prosecutor General Berik Assylov. The event brought together senior government officials, parliamentarians, business associations, international organizations, and representatives of major domestic and foreign investors to discuss mechanisms for strengthening investor protection in Kazakhstan.
The Forum focused on new institutional and legal measures aimed at improving the investment climate, including the enhanced role of the Investment Ombudsman, expansion of prosecutorial oversight over investor-related state actions, creation of pre-trial dispute resolution mechanisms, and further digitalization of investor support services.

During the discussion, AmCham Executive Director Jeff Erlich highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between the business community and the Committee for the Protection of Investors’ Rights. He also welcomed ongoing efforts to decriminalize certain business-related offenses and shared international best practices from other jurisdictions on improving investor confidence, regulatory predictability, and dispute prevention.
AmCham Kazakhstan welcomes these efforts and is encouraged to see strong alignment with the shared principles of free enterprise, fair competition, and the rule of law. Working together on these foundations can help create a more attractive and competitive investment climate in Kazakhstan.
