AmCham Members & Business Media Meeting

AmCham Members & Business Media Meeting

Ahead of Journalistsโ€™ Day in Kazakhstan, AmCham Kazakhstan, together with the U.S. Consulate General in Almaty, held the first ๐—”๐—บ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—บ ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ & ๐—•๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€ ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฎ ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด at the Nestlรฉ office.

This was the first time we organized an event in this format, and the level of interest from both AmCham members and media was much higher than expected. It showed that companies and journalists both see real value in more direct, practical dialogue.

Thank you to the U.S. Consulate General in Almaty U.S. Mission Kazakhstan
for co-organizing this initiative and to Nestlรฉ for hosting us.

During the meeting, companies and media representatives took part in a group exercise on what business stories should be covered, what journalists are looking for, and where communication can improve.

A few clear takeaways emerged:
๐Ÿ”นCompanies want to share more about their contribution to Kazakhstanโ€™s economy, investments, employer branding, social projects, expertise, and business success stories.
๐Ÿ”นMedia representatives are looking for facts, figures, rankings, expert comments, human stories, financial and business updates, crisis-related perspectives, and open communication on topics such as safety, environment, health, and education.
๐Ÿ”นBoth sides also agreed that business communication should be clearer and more accessible. Companies want to better explain complex industries and internal processes. Media want faster access to verified information, less jargon, more transparency, and more direct contact with companies.

This first meeting was a useful step toward better understanding between business and media. We hope it will lead to more conversations, stronger working relationships, and better coverage of business in Kazakhstan
