| Brief Project Description: | Beginit is an educational program empowering 767 high school students across Kazakhstan to become changemakers in their communities. By equipping youth with critical skills, networks, and platforms, the program expands access to education, strengthens civic leadership, and fosters safer, more inclusive communities. Its multi-stage approach delivers sustainable outcomes such as reduced educational inequality, greater youth representation in decision-making, and institutional recognition of youth-led initiatives. Having reached over 63,000 individuals, Beginit is driving systemic change by positioning young people as legitimate actors in solving local challenges and advancing long-term social equity across the country. |
| Problem Statement: | The initiative tackles three interconnected injustices: educational inequality and lack of economic opportunities, non-inclusive communities, and unsafe cities. |
| Objectives: | Beginit is an educational program empowering 767 high school students across Kazakhstan to become changemakers in their communities. By equipping youth with critical skills, networks, and platforms, the program expands access to education, strengthens civic leadership, and fosters safer, more inclusive communities. | Key Results: | • Beginit is an educational program empowering 767 high school students across Kazakhstan to become changemakers in their communities. • Having reached over 63,000 individuals, Beginit is driving systemic change by positioning young people as legitimate actors in solving local challenges and advancing long-term social equity across the country. • Quantitatively, Season 1 recorded 800 applications, with 167 students completing online modules, 400 attending workshops, 50 advancing as semifinalists, and 18 as finalists. • Community reach totaled 59,131 residents directly impacted and 63,392 individuals engaged overall. |
| Key Activities: | The outcomes were achieved through a multi-stage program that combined education, mentorship, and community-based action. Regional awareness tours and interactive events first introduced students to social leadership, sparking engagement and interest. This was followed by online modules and a virtual conference, providing structured learning, guided ideation, and project planning. Students then advanced to immersive experiences such as youth leadership camps and mentorship sessions, where they built teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. In their hometowns and villages, participants applied these lessons to real-world challenges, particularly improving school route safety. They conducted field studies, analyzed traffic flows, interviewed residents, digitized data, and developed Vision Zero solutions for hazardous areas. More than 30% of proposals have already been implemented with support from local authorities, resulting in new sidewalks, signalized pedestrian crossings, safer bus stops, and improved street lighting. Beyond immediate projects, the program catalyzed sustainable change. Alumni networks emerged organically, extending engagement beyond the program timeline. Public institutions and media began recognizing youth-led initiatives, validating their role in civic spaces. For example, Balausa Satynbek, a participant from Taraz, successfully advocated for the installation of bus stands, leading the local akimat to set up. |
| Key Learnings and Recommendations: | By directly engaging 767 youth and reaching 63,392 community members, Beginit demonstrated both scale and localized impact. Looking ahead, Beginit will monitor long-term outcomes between 2025–2030 through the inVisionU university program by inDrive(launched in September 2025), focusing on sustained youth leadership, improved educational mobility, stronger institutional partnerships, and measurable community transformation. |
