8 Sep 2026, 14:14 AmCham Community Clean-Up at Alma-Arasan

Join us for AmCham Kazakhstan’s first-ever joint volunteering event for employees and families from across our member community.

On September 26, we will come together for a community clean-up at Alma-Arasan, combining practical environmental action with an opportunity to meet and volunteer alongside colleagues from other AmCham member companies.

Event details

Date: Saturday, September 26, 2026
Meeting time: 8:00 a.m.
Estimated finish: approximately 11:30 a.m.
Location: Alma-Arasan, parking area near Otkeldi Snack Bar
Meeting point: View in 2GIS
Capacity: 50 participants
Participation: Free, but advance registration is required

The activity will be organized with the support of experienced eco-activist Timur Khassenov, who regularly leads environmental clean-ups and is familiar with the Alma-Arasan area.

Before the clean-up, participants will receive a safety briefing and be divided into smaller groups covering different areas.

What will be provided

AmCham and its partners will arrange:

  • protective gloves;
  • waste bags;
  • drinking water during the activity;
  • lunch after the clean-up, generously sponsored by Americana Group.

Participants do not need to purchase or bring cleaning supplies.

Transportation

Participants should arrange their own transportation to and from Alma-Arasan. You may travel by:

  • private car;
  • taxi;
  • public bus No. 211.

Please allow sufficient time for the journey and arrive at the meeting point by 8:00 a.m. The event will begin with registration, distribution of supplies, group assignments, and a mandatory safety briefing.

Closer to the event, confirmed participants will be added to a temporary WhatsApp group. The group will be used to share final meeting instructions, coordinate transportation where possible, provide weather updates, and answer logistical questions.

What to wear and bring

Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor physical activity and changing mountain weather. We recommend:

  • sturdy, closed-toe shoes with good grip;
  • comfortable trousers and layered clothing;
  • a light waterproof or windproof jacket;
  • a hat or cap;
  • sunscreen;
  • personal medication, if required;
  • a reusable water bottle, if preferred.

Please check the weather forecast before leaving and avoid bringing valuables.

Participation with children

Children aged seven and older are welcome to participate if accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times.

Families with children will be assigned to safer areas away from steep slopes and the river. The accompanying adult is responsible for assessing whether the activity is suitable for the child and ensuring that the child follows all safety instructions.

Children must be included in the accompanying adult’s registration, with their names and ages provided.

Safety

All participants must attend the safety briefing and follow the instructions of the organizers and group leads.

During the clean-up:

  • do not enter the river or climb steep or unstable slopes;
  • do not handle broken glass, syringes, sharp objects, or unknown substances directly;
  • report hazardous objects to your group lead;
  • remain with your assigned group;
  • keep children under direct adult supervision;
  • inform the organizers immediately if you are injured or feel unwell.

The organizers may adjust, postpone, or cancel the activity if weather or site conditions make it unsafe.

Food and supplies

Cleaning supplies will be provided by Chevron, while water and other beverages will be provided by Coca-Cola İçecek Kazakhstan. After the clean-up, participants will enjoy lunch generously sponsored by Americana Foods.

Photography and photo release

Photography and video recording will take place during the event. Photographs and recordings of participants may be used in AmCham Kazakhstan’s website, newsletter, social media, reports, and other internal and external communications.

By registering, participants consent to being photographed and recorded and to AmCham Kazakhstan using these materials for communications purposes without additional approval or compensation.

A parent or legal guardian must provide this consent on behalf of any participant under the age of 18.

Registration

Advance registration is required. Places are limited to 50 participants and will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please register only if you expect to attend. If your plans change, notify AmCham so that your place can be offered to another volunteer.
